What to Expect on your first visitAfter filling out the paperwork (which you can download at the
bottom of this page) you will be taken back to our examination
room. Before any examination is done you will first talk to Dr.
Bennett and explain your problem and ask any questions you
may have.
The primary goal of your exam is to find the cause of your pain. Our examination most likely will consist of palpation, which is essentially checking your spine by hand. We will check spinal alignment, spinal movement, and muscle tone. Range of motion and orthopedic/neurologic tests will also be performed if indicated. In most cases you will also receive a Surface EMG which will measure the electrical impulses of your spinal muscles which shows the affect your problem is having on your muscles. This test is painless and takes only a few minutes. Spinal X-Rays may or may not be taken. Whether we do X-Rays or not is dependent on many factors which we will discuss with you. Some reasons we would not perform X-Rays are: pregnancy, most children, have had recent X-Rays we can use, and have been under regular care without any recent accidents.
After your examination is done and X-Rays processed, Dr. Bennett will go over your findings with you and answer any questions you may have. At this point we can start your care. Your entire first visit should not take more than an hour.
Self pay
We understand that many people, especially in a military town, do not have Chiropractic coverage. We are happy to let you know what our fees are and how much your initial visit will be. No beating around the bush to lure you into the office and then surprise you. Give Sabrina or Amy a call and they will gladly let you know what your first visit will cost.
Insurance
You can call us with your insurance card information and we would be glad to do a complementary benefits check to find out what your Chiropractic coverage is. Do remember that each policy is different and to bring your insurance card along with your driver's license or photo ID with you on your first visit. If your insurance policy requires a referral, we must receive it before your first visit.
